The center point of Siena is the Piazza del Campo, a large square overseen by la torre del Mangia. The tower, part of the town hall, is also one of the many contrada mascots. The city of Siena is divided into 17 contrade, small neighborhoods, each of which is represented by a chosen symbol (l’Onde – The Wave, l’Oca – The Goose, etc.) My neighborhood happens to be La Torre, snapped here while wandering away one of the first afternoons in my new city.
